Writing/Riding the Second Wave: The Story of the Women's Writer's Center, 1975-1982

See production stills below.  To see and read moreclick on the Writing the Second Wave tab, above left.

Writing the Second Wave recalls how three young feminist academics, responding to overt sexism at their universities in the early 1970s, created an independent Women’s Writer’s Center in a conservative small town in upstate NY. To their initial surprise, they were enthusiastically joined by nearly every known late-20th century American woman writer, who came to teach as Visiting Faculty. All this was fortunately documented in over 100 rare images of the 20+ writers that capture the excitement and promise of Second Wave feminism.
